Students:
Strengthening academics, and
student safety.
Our elementary students are failing in reading and math, and therefore are not prepared for high school or college. The decline in test scores is a consequence of the decline in genuine education.
I will ensure that Chula Vista Elementary Schools focus on reading, writing and math so that our students are prepared for high school, college and a successful career.
Parents:
Parental support.
The lack of parental support is a critical issue in our education system. I believe that parents are entitled to have the final say in their child’s education.
Teachers:
Providing classroom support to teachers.
Teachers play a major role in the success of our students. With the continual increase of mental health and behavior challenges in the classrooms, teachers need to be supported more now than ever.
I will focus on providing classroom support such as teachers’ assistants and individual or small group academic support in the classrooms for students that are at-risk emotionally and academically.
I will focus on bringing back a common sense approach to education.
